A Travellerspoint blog

1 Month to go.

sunny 14 °C

I can remember I set up a blog when I was 18, I was going backpacking in asia and thought it would be a fun idea to post all my experiences. I ended up spending hardly anytime on the internet, and only recorded my travels with pictures and wonderful memories.
Since then I have been on countless trips around the world and continued to record my experiences exactly the same way I did when I was 18. So, you might be wondering what has changed now?
I have been accepted to intern at an Non-Governmental-Organisation in israel this summer. The idea is to raise awareness of the israeli-palestinian conflict. To promote peace.
No, it is not a hippy trip where I wave around with my hands in a peace sign. ( I think it is clear to say that I as an individual can not make a direct change, but wasn't it social media started by one person that triggered the arab spring?
In exactly 4 weeks I shall be on the plane to Tel-aviv, until then I am doing a lot of research on the conflict as it is right now. I am curious if the media's portrayal will be different from what is actually happening. I suppose you can never know until you go there yourself and experience it for yourself.
